Description
The Purple gallinule is a medium-sized swamphen native to the Americas. It belongs to the rail family that includes crakes, coots, and gallinules. I took this photograph at Anhinga Trail. I was struggling to capture this nervous species on a very windy day at Anhinga, It was hiding and looking for protection behind the brush. Suddently it flew up on the deck a few feet away from me, I froze, knowing any motion or movement would scare it off. I was able to get several shots befor it flew off,
