Description
The Red-shouldered hawk is a member of the genus Buteo, a group of medium-sized raptors with robust bodies and broad wings.Red-shouldered hawks feed on a variety of prey, primarily small rodents, amphibians, and reptiles, and small/young waterfowl.I took this photograph on the Gumbo Limbo Trail in the Florida Everglades, I was walking down this trail in the far distance I kept seeing a rather large bird that kept flying back and forth, I figured it had a nest,,,As I got closer I saw a branch over and above the trail and this hawk was positioned on it, I was able to get several shots as I kept inching forward trying to get closer knowing one false move and it would fly away which it did, Thats what I love about photography aside from the fact it gets you outdoors with nature ,,,and you never know what you will encounter,
